Sine Nomine is seeking singers for all sections for the current season, though particularly tenors and basses. Rehearsals are held Mondays from 7:00-9:00pm at the Unitarian Church in Fall River, 309 North Main St.
The 2023-2024 season includes two concerts. The fall concerts on November 4 and 5 feature 16th-century a cappella music by Tomkins, Victoria, and Gesualdo, and conclude with the Magnificat from Monteverdi’s Vespers of 1610. The spring concerts on April 20 and 21 will celebrate music of Lili and Nadia Boulanger, and feature the a cappella Chansons françaises by Poulenc.
Our singers come from all walks of life and include professional musicians as well as dedicated enthusiasts of choral singing. What we all have in common is the skill and discipline required to perform a cappella repertoire within a small ensemble. Reasonable weekly assignments are required of singers in order to prepare the music to a high level between rehearsals.
We believe in respecting singers’ time, and with an aim to encourage more music educators and other professionals with early work hours to join the group, we finish weekly rehearsals by 9:00pm, and only schedule one dress rehearsal during concert week. Rehearsals take place for 8 and 10 weeks before the fall and spring concerts, respectively, and the rest of the Mondays of the year are off.
If you’ve read this far, we’d love to have you audition! Please send your name, contact information, voice part and a description of your choral experience to membership@sinenominechoir.org
